In the 1980's as a History undergraduate,
I started exploring the archives to discover
my own family history. Through that work
my passion for genealogy was born.
Back then records were not available
on the internet and conducting research was challenging, but I was hooked and remain so to this day.

Following a long career in nursing as a
Consultant Nurse in the NHS and
achieving a Doctorate in Nursing,
I decided to switch careers and pursue
that long held passion for genealogical
research. I went back to university
and was successfully awarded an
MSc in Genealogical, Palaeographic and Heraldic studies from the University of Strathclyde.

My paternal grandmother
Annie Dixon Torrance Mackie Allan
1908-1990.

Now I want to use my passion, expertise and specialist knowledge to help others discover the full picture of their family tree, unearthing the interesting stories they have to tell, and answering questions about their background they may have had for years. Every family tree has a story and there is always something interesting to learn. I am a member of the Register of Qualified Genealogists, Society of Genealogists, and Glasgow and West of Scotland Family History Society. I have specialist knowledge of Scotland, Ireland, Northern England, migration and military history, but I am not limited to these areas and will strive to assist with any queries you may have. I look forward to being able to assist you in exploring your ancestry and discovering more about your unique family history.

Discover the history of your house- when was it built, who owned it and who were the people who stayed there through time?

We can utilise records such as sasines, land records, wills, valuation reports and census documents to explore the history of your home.

Document transcription

We can travel to a range of Archives in Scotland and Northern England to transcribe specific documents that you may require for your research.

Some older documents can be difficult to read and understand, but our specialist palaeographic training can assist with this.
